So War Rocket Ajax is taking a two-part look at Dan Didio’s favorite comics from his tenure as Editor-In-Chief at DC Comics. Here’s his list and his justification for why he chose what he chose.
With the exception of Batman R.I.P., I have read zero of these comics. In fact, if you were to ask me exactly the kinds of comics I do not want to read, I would probably list off comics that appear on this list, along with most of the big, orchestrated events and tied-in titles from Marvel. They’re everything in modern superhero comics that has turned me off from the Big Two’s output: all gritted teeth and ripped-off arms and forced endings and editorial mandates and dumbass publicity stunts. Just a lot of comics that want desperately to look cool in front of their friends. Real Man-In-the-Moon stuff.
Anyway, go listen to Chris Sims, Matt Wilson and special guest, ComicsAlliance Senior Editor Andy Khouri, talk about Didio’s list of DC’s Greatest Hits. It’s worth it.
